Olympian Ross Rebagliati and Wife Welcome Baby Boy

June 11, 2009, Kelowna, BC – Ross Rebagliati and his wife, Alexandra, welcomed a baby boy on May 15, 2009 at the Kelowna General Hospital. They named the baby Ryan Enzo Rebagliati. Ross wanted to call the baby Ryder or Rush, but Alexandra won out on the first name by letting Ross pick the second name. Ross picked Enzo after Enzo Ferrari, the man who invented the Ferrari. Ross wanted an Italian middle name to honour his Italian roots. Ross is a Canadian and Italian citizen. The baby was born at 8:38am and weighed in at 8 pounds 12 ounces. The baby has brown hair and blue eyes. Alexandra says the baby looks just like his daddy.

Ross, who was recently named the new Sales Manager for Westterra Point, a high-end luxury subdivision in Kelowna (www.WestterraPoint.com), says he is excited to take on his new role as a daddy. “I am already planning dirt biking trips with my son, surfing trips to Vancouver Island, and of course snowboarding in the winter. Alexandra has coordinated training schedules with Robyn Regehr’s wife so Robyn will coach their son and Ryan for hockey and I’ll coach the boys for snowboarding. Ryan has big wide feet which are going to give him an edge on the competition for balance for snowboarding.”

While Ross would be thrilled if Ryan follows in his Olympic footsteps, Ross is not going to push his son into any sports. “As long as my son is happy that is all that matters to me. Of course I would love to be able to coach him but if he chooses a different path I’m fine with that. We’ll support him in whatever he chooses to do.”

Alexandra says Ross is a hands-on dad. He helps change the diapers and burp the baby. “Ross is an amazing dad. I love watching him playing with Ryan. If Ryan is screaming all I have to do is lay Ryan on Ross’ chest and he falls right to sleep.”

On top of everything, Ross is also in the process of writing a book on the history of snowboarding for Greystone Books. The book will be released for sale the Fall of 2009.
