NYC Cheaper than Vancouver!

Blog by | June 4th, 2012

  • Pretty shocking that an investor could do better buying a condominium in New York City than in Vancouver. Not only is it possible to buy a condo apartment even in mid-town Manhattan for a lower price than in downtown or West Side Vancouver, it is also easier to rent it out and for a lot more money.

NYC investors should look for anything on Manhattan below 96th Street. Above 96th turns into Harlem and though West Harlem is nice due to Columbia University, you'd really need to know the area to know if your location is good. A hugely popular location is Williamsburg and Dumbo (both in Brooklyn). Pricing there is comparable to Manhattan pricing due to the neighbourhoods' growing popularity. One thing to look at with the condos is the building maintenance fees and taxes.
